ASPCA files lawsuit against AKC

American Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) files lawsuit against American Kennel Club (AKC). The suit, filed in the Federal Court of Common Sense claims that the AKC, by issuing AKC papers (official registry of a canines bloodline) only to dogs born of pure bloodlines is encouraging the genetic destruction of the very breeds it seeks to promote. Siting German Shepards, Golden Retrievers, and Rottwielers as breeds with a pre-disposition tok genetic defects, the claim states that an ever increasing percentage of dogs of these and other breeds are living with the pain of their genetic birth defects, or in some cases, even being destroyed because of their birth defects. Johnny Katz, of the ASPCA stated “The irresponsible position of the AKC is based on the self sustaining nature of their for profit business, rather than the well being of the dogs that they claim represent. The worth and beauty of a dog is not incumbant upon its pedigree, rather it is in the number of square feet in the home that an owner dedicates to the beloved pet in proportion to his or herself.” In response to the filing, Mai Hip Hertz, spokeswoman for the AKC replied “If Mr. Katz had his way, we’d all be living in dog houses, whilst our pets used our beds as bathrooms.

Clearly, the impending court case will outperfrom even Johnny Cochran’s performance in the OJ Simpson trial.
